The loveliest welcome with homemade Setouchi lemonade 🍋 by and such a warm introduction by this wonderful couple to this beautiful modern apartment on the sea front. Perfect space with a kitchen and everything you could need to cook. The owners even recommended places to eat nearby. So thoughtful, kind and a leaving present of a Japanese fan to stay cool. I would love to return for longer next time.

Shikishima is a hidden gem ryokan just short train ride outside of Imabari. The staff were extremely kind and I feel their level of service is above and beyond the cost to stay. I was able to enjoy a divine soak in their bath after a long day of cycling and the host carefully washed and folded my laundry for a very low fee. I enjoyed speaking Japanese with the host and helping some other English-speaking guests communicate with her too! A truly wonderful experience. My travelling partner and I loved the rice balls and local mikan orange for breakfast. Simple but delicious food, and clearly made with love using local ingredients. I wish I could have stayed for another night and enjoyed the evening meal too. The host was so friendly and made many suggestions for our trip when we shared our plans. I look forward to coming back to Shikoku and visiting the places she talked about. Thank you!

It was extremely clean and comfortable. Very chic, modern, Japanese style furniture. The owners were very accommodating and hospitable. The view from the bedroom and the kitchen was breathtakingly beautiful. I would definitely stay there again. For cyclists: it was a bit far from Shimanami Kaido cylcing road. It's 13km ride inside the island (so add 26km to your itinerary). It's a very scenic ride inside the island to get there but one must plan accordingly.
