Homestays in Shingū

It was in a convenient location and the staff were extremely helpful and understanding.

Such a lovely stay with the best okonomiyaki just down the road! Hospitality was amazing and even gave us some manju that they make in their shop to try!! Delicious! Perfect stay in a great location for the kumano kodo trail. Would definitely stay again!

This was my favourite accommodation during my latest trip to Japan. Such a beautiful house! The host is incredibly kind and welcoming, made my stay relaxing. Really lovely to meet him in person. :) He thoughtfully prepared everything I wouldn't even think of bringing with me. I felt so welcomed in Shingu, thank you and I would love to be back. :)

Clean functional comfortable safe room and facilities. Shared bathroom amongst just 3 rooms so no issues at all. Easy to check in and out. Messages were responded promptly. I was able to send my bag to my room at the beginning of my Kumano Kodo trek with the bag waiting for me as I walked in. Bikes are also available to get around Shingu. The owners also run an izakaya nearby which had fantastic food. clientele, and staff. I was planning to go for a quick bite after hiking for 9 hours but ended up spending 3 hours having one of the best local nights in Japan hanging out with the owners, staff, and locals. Highly recommend this hostel if you are lucky to find availability. Works well as the end of Kumano Kodo stay or if you are just checking out the beautiful shrines around the Shingu and Wakayama area

Very nice location that is close to a convenience store and has closeby parking. The beds were super comfortable and the property is very clean. Check in is very simple and quick. The host is a very nice gentleman. Don’t forget to stop by Bar BGM where the host makes excellent cocktails!

I loved my little room, very traditional and the tatami smells wonderful! It was easy to check in and out, the location is great, just outside of the Taisha. So quiet and relaxing! Loved the common room and the kitchen and appreciated the mikan and tea prepared for guests. I would happily stay again.

Convenient little spot with lovely staff.

Host was incredibly welcoming and helpful. He searched and found information for us and even offered to help us make reservations for activities. We stayed here during the winter, but the place was warm and comfortable. It had everything we needed plus free condiments. We would love to stay here again!

This guesthouse was one of the best we stayed in. Very convenient to the bus and train station for an overnight stay. The staff was very helpful. We were able to do laundry and regroup after walking the Kumano Kodo. Since it was raining we were offered a ride to the train station which was very helpful and kind. We were able to walk to the Kumano Hayatama Taisha and the Tofuku Shrine.

Such a lovely place to stay! The host was so kind and took such wonderful care of me, I’m so glad I stayed here. It is 3 private bedrooms upstairs with shared downstairs, though I was the only one there for most of my stay. It was very peaceful. I recommend booking at least 24 hours in advance to be sure someone is there to let you in, as it can be difficult to contact them last minute (the host does not live there). Lawson is around the corner, and only a 10-15 minute walk to many restaurants. A great choice in Shingu!

The house is lovely, and although it's a bit of a trek from Shingu Station, is in a quiet part of town close to a kakigori shop, and also not far from Kamikura Shrine. As a bonus, I ended up having the entire place to myself, which made it much easier to recuperate from days of trekking along the Kumano Kodo.
