The facility is little old, but very clean and the staff is very attentive and considerate.. we will definitely go back.. its like youre staying at the house of a japanese family back then. The toilet is old style but no problem at all.. the water is clean the bed sheets and bath is clean the kitchen stuffs also..

You get more than what you pay for—an extremely clean hostel in a nice quiet area. A ways from central Shimoda with limited transport, but near a lovely hike to Cape Tsumeki and the ocean. Shower is good, beds aren’t particularly comfy but get the job done. Not the most convenient spot, but a nice place, easy, affordable and for budget travelers, a good choice.

I love this place! So many great places to explore nearby and the owners are the sweetest. They can give you lots of advice on what do and see. The onsen was very nice as well. It was nice to find an affordable, tradition ryokan in an amazing location.

We had a wonderful time in Matsuzaki! The guesthouse was lovely and so was our host and the other guests. I would definitely recommend staying here. We enjoyed sharing dinner around the fire in the evenings and received excellent recommendations on what to see and do. We also enjoyed riding the bikes into town.
