Each of our private houses are nestled in stunning coastal locations of natural beauty on Kangaroo Island and set amongst the abundant wildlife.

Property info

As you may be aware Kangaroo Island has had several bush fires burning since 20/12/19. The fire did come through our Snelling's Beach area however all of our retreats have survived, with most still retaining the immediate landscaping and natural bushland that surrounds them. Kangaroo Island is a very large island so although large areas have been burnt, there are many areas of wilderness, wildlife, that you will be able to experience. You visiting us at this time is actually a critical component of our recovery process.

Neighborhood info

Kangaroo Island is Australia’s third largest Island with over 32% of the island conserved in National or Conservation Parks. Currently, we have restricted entry into the far western part of the island and Flinders Chase National Park is closed for now. Although quite a large section of the island has been burnt by the fire there is still 250km of pristine coastline, beaches, and wilderness for guests to enjoy. Many of these are different from their relatives on mainland – the Kangaroo Island kangaroo is a distinct sub-species of the western grey kangaroo, the endangered Glossy-black cockatoo is also an Island sub-species including the Sooty Dunnart (a small marsupial carnivore) also found nowhere else on earth. The Island’s diverse landscapes provide habitat for sea lions, fur seals, endemic kangaroos, wallabies, koalas, echidnas, platypus, goannas, 243 bird species (many rare or endangered), possums, bandicoots, and even a pod of resident dolphins who visit Life Time on a regular
