Somerset Palms is located on Magnetic Island. Surrounded by turquoise blue water & home to the largest koala habitat in Queensland. Kick off your shoes & relax by the salt water pool. Just allow the balmy warmth of the tropical breeze to sooth your mind & body as you absorb the panoramic views of the mountains & surrounding palm trees. Wash away your cares in the Coral Sea, at dusk witness the glowing hues of a tropical sunset or stroll to the Forts Walk, go koala spotting & hand feed rock wallabies. Welcome to Somerset Palms Studio Apartment - your private tropical studio apartment located just a few steps away from the private resort style pool area complete with an outdoor shower, seating under the palm trees and secluded decked areas with sun loungers. Just bring your swimmers, a hat and be prepared to relax. Somerset Palms is tastefully styled with both antique and modern furnishings that create an inviting and relaxed atmosphere. The private bathroom is contemporary and spacious, with obscure glass louvers for added privacy, there is one small step up from the bedroom area into the bathroom. Bespoke fixtures are added throughout such as a contemporary steel and glass barn sliding door separating the living/dining area from the bedroom for added privacy and functionality. The kitchenette is equipped with a stainless steel kettle and toaster, a microwave and all of the necessary dinner ware and cooking essentials to create meals. We hope that when you arrive on Magnetic Island you are open to
My husband Pete and I have lived on Magnetic Island for over four years after relocating from an off the grid property outside of Melbourne. I'm a practicing visual artist and Biofield Tuning practitioner. I'm a passionate gardener and have recently developed an interest in growing orchids. I enjoy my quiet time in the swimming pool or just sitting at the beach being mesmerized by the ocean and turtle/whale spotting. Pete enjoys being immersed in nature, going for long walks on the many tracks located in Horseshoe Bay such as Radical Bay, Forts Walk, Arthur Bay and Florence Bay. Pete is passionate about sailing, traveling the high seas, fishing and diving. We both enjoy traveling, meeting new people and building memories from our adventures together in foreign lands. We hope that when you arrive on Magnetic Island you are open to unwinding and letting go of the stress of a busy, modern life and simply breath and become one with the islands pace. As the locals say - it's island time, slow down and immerse yourself in the sunshine, sand and sea.
Visitors to Magnetic Island can enjoy the many cafes, pubs and tourist destinations such as the wallaby feeding area (across from Arcadia pub), beautiful Alma Bay beach and the many walks through the National Park that lead you to secluded tropical beaches. There are also the famous Sunday Markets at Horseshoe Bay and the Friday night markets at the RSL club located in Arcadia for a real taste of what the locals enjoy with live music and laid back atmosphere. There are many ways to see the islands highlights including taxi, hire cars, scooters and E bikes and of course the very cheap and regular bus service to and from the ferry terminal. The Horseshoe Bay area boasts the Forts Walk which is famous for koala spotting, it is also the starting point for the Arthur Bay and Florence Bay walks. They each have beautiful secluded beaches with no vehicle access so they are pristine and quiet. There is also the walk to Radical Bay, the Butterfly walk, there is also the short walk through the tidal lagoon area with purpose built walkway above the tidal line that leads to Horseshoe Bay beach. If walking isn't your thing then opt out to just relax at Horseshoe Bay beach, complete with life guard and stinger net so you can safely swim all year round with an assortment of dining choices literally across the road. The Koala Park is down the road from Somerset Palms Studio Apartment (located at Bounce) where you can participate in bird feeding and get up close to wild life. Saturday afternoon you can enjoy bare foot bowls located at the Bowls Club on Geoffrey Bay, a fun alternative to unwind with friends and meet some local characters, they boast that they have the coldest beer on the island! And don't miss out on the hilarious antics of the famous toad races at Arcadia pub, it will be a memorable and unique experience.
