Wallaroo Outback Retreat, found only 1 hour from the iconic Carnarvon Gorge, is an atmospheric lodge built from timber milled on the property. Designed for self catering, it has a fully equipped kitchen with all the cooking and serving equipment you could ever need, as well as barbeques and even camp ovens for those feeling adventurous. Scattered behind the Retreat are ten fabulous glamping tents, five Deluxe tents with their own attached ensuites and five Classic tents which have their own private bathroom just a short walk from the tent. Wake up amongst the towering Eucalypts listening to the magical sounds of the bush in crisp white linen tucked into beautifully comfortable beds. This is camping at its best! Enjoy a yarn, a glass of wine and some camp oven cooking around the rustic fire pit while spotting for rock wallabies against the cliffs. Although most people self drive to Wallaroo, flying is also an option. Found only 500m from the Retreat is Wallaroo's very own, private airstrip. Many guests choose to fly into Wallaroo Outback Retreat for the weekend. A car is available for hire to allow you to access the Carnarvon Gorge.

Welcome to Wallaroo Outback Retreat!!! Justin & I live on this large working cattle property with our young family. Cattle are our day to day bread & butter. But living on this beautifully property with all it's hidden treasures, so close to the iconic Carnarvon Gorge, we felt we just had to share our little piece of paradise. And so Wallaroo Outback Retreat was born. On your arrival you'll be greeted by our friendly managers and they will show you to your tent and all that you need to know about your stay with us. They can answer your questions about what there is to see and do and how best to tackle the Gorge. We really hope you enjoy your stay here with us. While staying at Wallaroo Outback Retreat, most people take a day out to explore Carnarvon Gorge, 1 hour to the north. If you'd like to see the very best of Wallaroo though, explore our own private Carnarvon Ranges and all her hidden treasures, this is done on a Boobook Explore Tour. Boobook is an ecology firm based in Roma and they come out to Wallaroo and take a full day tour around the property, visiting spectacular cultural sites, magnificent sandstone cliff formations, ancient gorges filled with 1000 year old cycads, and breath taking views of Arcadia Valley. This tour comes highly recommended by past guests of Wallaroo.
