Huize Maeterlinck is a former family-run paper factory. It also used to be the home of the grandparents of Maurice MAETERLINCK (poet and actor, born in 1864), who won the Nobelprice of Literature in 1911. The former owners were artists and together with the famous architect Taillieu they reformed the house with eye for authentic details. The building is perfect for artlovers and rebellious minds. We are the new owners and really love the surprising details and atmosphere of the house. The appartement is really spacious and clean, a lot of light and has an arty atmosphere. You have your own entry and once up the stairs, the appartement covers the first floor. We are happy to stay in touch with you during your stay to answer all your questions and give tips for exploring the neighbourhood. Ghent is full of surprises and we love to share them with you. We are Sven and Femke, both born in Ghent. We have four children in the age from 5 to 21. We are music lovers, love to travel and have a busy social life. Sven is an independent and Femke is a lawyer. We love to accomodate people to let them explore our unique city and we share all of our own tips and experiences with pleasure!

Huize Maeterlinck is situated in the very city Centre. Close to everything: markets, bars, restaurants, concerts, historical buildings. Huize Maeterlinck is in the carfree zone, but around the corner there is a public parking space, where you can easily park the car. Although in the city Centre it is very quiet at night. Ghent is full of events: Gentse Feesten in July (Ghent Festivities), Winter Festivities with Christmas Market, Light Festival in January and much more. But overall it is worthwhile to enjoy the city and let you overwhelm by its creativity and the warmth of the Ghent people. You will have to pass Onderstraat when you visit the historical city centre, so why not stay there!?
