The house is located on a 2 hectares piece of land which can be referred to in French as a "park" rather than a garden. This "park" includes a fresh water stream which passes through the property and 200 meters of river bank (river "Semois"). Access to the property is through the nr 58 rue de l'embarcadère (a black metal entrance gate in between two white pilars). The animals yet spotted on the property: boars (sangliers), raccoons ("ratons-laveurs"), foxes, beavers (they have a "home" just accross the river). As an anecdote, this house is within the family for more than 100 years. My grand father (now passed away) was in his youth scout leader of the troop our now deceased king Baudouin 1er, was member of (verified fact), so the story goes in Chiny amongst the elderly that our king Baudouin 1er passed some time in the house as part of a scout camp in the region (unverified fact). Thus you may happen to sleep in same room as he did :-) Now guest should come to this house for its exceptional location and stunning environment, the house in itself is comfortable but no 5 stars hotel, also the wifi effectiveness depends on the strength of the local 4G signal which is variable. A 250 EUR rent deposit is asked. Off - season (between 15th October till 15th May) a 10 EUR per day Electricity consumption is enforced to give an incentive to use the wood stoves (wood is free), rather than the electric radiators. Excess of electricity consumption is deducted from the 250 EUR rent deposit. System is transparent in the way that the electricity meter is in the dining room, a kWh of electricity currently costs around 30 cents.
