East Gate Philipopol is one of three open entry and exit routes of ancient Plovdiv. In it it has been going main link between Philipopol and Byzantium. It is assumed that it was built in the II century and reconstructed in the IV century. The complex around the gate was opened and excavated in the 70s of XX century. Its ruins lie in the northeastern foot of Plovdiv Three Hills.
