I’m Tina Marinova, your host and caretaker of this cherished home. Once the working atelier to the renowned Plovdiv artist, Georgi Bozhilov, also known as "Slona" (which means "elephant" in Bulgarian), this house holds a special place in my heart. It’s where I first met my husband, and together we’ve poured our love into restoring its soul, reviving every corner with care and respect for its past. My purpose is to preserve the spirit of this historic home while offering the warmth and ease of modern comfort. I personally welcome every guest and find great joy in creating an experience that feels both authentic and deeply restful — whether you come seeking culture, inspiration, or a quiet escape. You’ll find the house filled with character, gentle light, and thoughtful details that honour its artistic legacy. Set within the cobbled heart of Old Town Plovdiv, Slona – The Elephant House is surrounded by centuries of art, history, and life unfolding quietly on the streets. The neighbourhood is part of a UNESCO-listed architectural reserve, where every turn reveals a story- painted façades, carved balconies, and glimpses of the city’s ancient soul. Just steps from the house lies the Roman Amphitheatre, one of the best-preserved in the world, where music and theatre still echo under the open sky. A short stroll leads you to the City Art Gallery, Balabanov House Museum, Zlatyu Boyadzhiev Gallery, and the Ethnographic Museum, each preserving a different thread of Bulgaria’s creative past. Wander downhill and you’ll arrive at the lively Kapana Creative District — a maze of narrow streets filled with artisan workshops, boutique shops, and design studios.
