Check out the local places that serve meals accompanied by live music - you will love it! O Rei das Coxinhas is 2 minutes away. People love this place for a light breakfast or snack. If you appreciate history, you can visit old buildings, churches, and forts dating back several centuries. Have you heard of Forte De Santo Inacio De Loyola in Tamandare - 45 min drive? Or do you know where Porto de Galinhas got its name? That's about a 1 hour and 15 min drive. The beaches vary from place to place, and it is fun to explore the different stretches of coastline along the Golden Coast. It's 7 km to Sao Jose, 4 km to the well know Antunes beach, 7 km to Barra Grande and the famous Caminho do Moizes. Barra Grande also has a fabulous zoo with a wide variety of animals. Its 11 km to Maragogi with all the little shops and great restaurants, 16 km to Sao Bento, 20 km to Japaratinga where the "Mil Sorrisos" event takes place every year, and 26 km to Barreira do Boqueirao. Recife and Maceio are both big cities about a 2 hour drive north and south. Guests will venture around, and often come back saying Mar e Lar has the best beach of all!
