Ilha Grande is located 94 mi from the city of Rio de Janeiro. To get to the island it is necessary to take a ferry from one of three locations: Mangaratiba, Conceição de Jacareí or Angra dos Reis. The last boat leaving the mainland to the island is 18:00. After this time there are no more public ferries. The only other option is to pay for a private service or rent a private boat.
