We are experienced traveler's and guests but are now hosting for the first time. I live in North Saanich (Vancouver Island) BC, Canada. We have lived and worked together for 40+ years selling custom, quality lumber and wood flooring at West Wind Hardwood Inc. We love to travel; whether a road trip, camping/canoeing trip; trips by air or on the water in our classic wooden boat. We have two adult girls. One lives locally and the other lives far too far away in Western Australia. Sadly my wife, Shelley of 45 years passed away July 2023 of a failed bone marrow transplant. Port Renfrew was a resource-based community; the local wharf its hub and is in transition. It is a relaxed, friendly village always ready to help visitors enjoy their backyard of coastal, natural wonders. Port Renfrew is the gateway to ancient forests, epic hikes, and mighty surf – to the eagle and the salmon and Sitka spruce. From here, you can trek, paddle, comb the beaches or cast your line. Frommer’s describes Vancouver Island as “a mountainous bulwark of deep-green forests, rocky fjords, and wave-battered headlands. For an area so easily accessible by car, the range of wildlife here is surprising: Bald eagles float above the shorelines, seals and sea lions slumber on rocky islets, and porpoises and orca whales cavort in narrow passes between islands”. We are stone's throw from the Carmanah/Walbran UNESCO biosphere, the head of the West Coast Trail and the Botanical Beach.
