McBayne house is a 140 year old Queen Anne style Victorian manor. It was built by one of the leading business men in Hamilton in the 1800's. Today is an example of the rich architectural history still found in Hamilton. We are fortunate to share this wonderful home with guests from around the world. Much of the character of the house is still intact and you fill find period features such as floors, fireplace, light fixtures, etc. in your room. The shared bathroom is also original with the old cast iron tub, ancient sink, etc. For those that love character, this house has loads. It is a private home and we would like you to treat it as your own, i.e. take off your shoes in the room, keep the hall area quiet, no guests, etc. Once again, please do not have visitors as this disrupts our long term tenants. We like to keep the atmosphere respectful not just for tenants but guests as well. The house is located close to downtown Hamilton, with all transportation at our doorstep. Your check-in in time is after 3pm and we are happy to check you in at any time that is convenient for you. However, we do not have a 24/7 front desk and do require a time when you will arrive. If it changes, please let us know or we may not be available. We welcome you to enjoy your stay.

We are an older couple who love to meet people from around the world. We enjoy showing off our wonderful home and look forward to making you as comfortable as possible. The room is self contained and we try to personally welcome all of our guests. However since we are a private home, sometimes we are unavailable so self check in is provided. But we are always a short call or text away. If you have questions about Hamilton, or the area we would be happy to provide you with information or recommendations. Just let us. We also have two small dogs that do not have run of the house, but will come running up to say hello if they should meet you outside. We are on a busier road in Hamilton. This makes it very convenient for transportation or for access to all parts of Hamilton. However at times this may be a little much for sleep. We provide background noise to help ignore the traffic. We are on the major bus routes as well as close to the GO train station. Downtown Hamilton is a 20 minute walk away. There you will find all kinds of bars and nightlife. Just around the corner from us is trendy James St. S with bars and restaurants. And if you can travel by bus or car, there is the mountain a short 5 minute drive with all the usual malls, shopping and loads of eating options. In terms of sightseeing, all the major attractions are a bit of distance away, but still a short car or bus ride. Hamilton is known for it's older historic homes, which are all around us as well as monuments such as Dundurn Castle and Whitehern. We have a rich history and our house is one of it's showcases.
