Welcome to The Library Inn! The house is a designated heritage home in the Queen Anne Revival style (known locally as The Matthew House) and is filled with century-old architectural detail and character. The interior has been refreshed so that guests can enjoy a lovely blend of old and new. Rooms are spacious, filled with light and ocean breezes, and feature comfortable beds, fine cotton linens, and down-filled duvets & pillows. Bathrooms feature marble tiles, rain showerheads, Turkish cotton towels and natural PEI-made soaps. A hot breakfast of local foods is included in your stay and is happily made to order. Coffee is French-pressed, and there is a self-serve tea station with baked goods in the dining room for you to enjoy throughout the day. We hope your stay is peaceful and that the surroundings help you slow down and relax. Wifi and parking are free on site.
I'm a librarian, who loves literature (of course!) and just had to incorporate books into my rooms somehow. With plans to renovate a main floor library in the near future, I have in the meantime curated books throughout the house for guests to enjoy during their stay. I love art, design and architecture, and the Matthew House is my current restoration project. I have a high appreciation for quality, conservation, comfort, and all-things natural. I look forward to meeting you!
Local attractions include the lovely Singing Sands of Basin Head beach, the Fisheries Museum, Souris Lighthouse, ferry to the Magdalen Islands, Chef Michael Smith's world class Fireworks dining experience, and the extraordinary Greenwich National Park with its incredible dunes. We are also so fortunate to have the wonderful 21 Breakwater restaurant two doors down (you will need a reservation!). If you fancy a round of golf, some of the finest Island courses are not too far off.
