Welcome to The Wandering Antler, a cozy, adventure-focused B&B on a rural foothills acreage just 2.5 km from the hamlet of Bragg Creek. A comfortable place to land after a day outdoors: private rooms, a light continental breakfast, and a beautiful outdoor space with a bbq and seating to start your day or unwind. The property sides onto a local trail (a short, moderate hike to mountain views) and sits just 9.4 km from the Bragg Creek Trails network and its 140+ km of hiking, biking, snowshoeing, and cross-country ski routes. This is genuine foothills living tucked away in the forest, between two foothills. Living here means sharing the land. Mule and whitetail deer, the occasional bear, and a rich mix of foothills wildlife move through the property, often in view from the a window or deck. You're in bear and cougar country too, so the usual rules apply: keep food stored properly and stay aware on the trails. We also have working dogs on site who bark as they guard the property; they're kept in fenced areas, so there's no guest interaction. We are not always a silent retreat; it's the real sound and rhythm of rural foothills living, a big part of what makes a stay here memorable. Access to the accommodations includes 9 steps to enter the home, 7 additional steps to reach the main hallway from the landing, and a full staircase to the second floor where all guest rooms are located.

Your hosts are Jason and Allison Traviss, an active couple who love the outdoors; mountain biking, hiking, backcountry camping, snowshoeing, horseback riding, and pretty much anything that gets us out into the foothills/mountains. We started The Wandering Antler to share our beautiful, wildlife-rich property with other outdoor enthusiasts. We have four dogs who work the property, so you can expect to hear them when they spot wildlife nearby; it's part of life out here. We genuinely enjoy meeting our guests and hearing about their adventures, and we're always happy to point you toward the best spots in Bragg Creek, the Bragg Creek Trails network, or Kananaskis to make the most of your stay.

Elkana is one of the oldest and most storied corners of Bragg Creek. It's where Bragg Creek itself meets the Elbow River, and it grew up around the legendary Elkana Ranch — a working cattle-and-horse operation that, back in the 1920s, became one of the area's first "dude" outfits, hosting Stampedes and rodeos under a huge circus tent, with dances afterward. Pete Knight, who would go on to become a world-champion bronc rider, won his very first championship right here. Today it's a quiet, heavily forested pocket known for riverbank walks, swimming holes, and peaceful strolls through the municipal reserve along the creek. The Trans Canada Trail runs straight through it, and the hamlet core — cafés, restaurants, and shops — is only a short walk or drive away when you want it. It's the kind of place that rewards slowing down: history underfoot, water nearby, and the foothills rising on every side.
