The two spacious, sunny apartments are located in a chalet with a wonderful view of the Diemtigtal. The chalet was built in 1966 as a residence by my parents. It stands 300 m outside the village of Diemtigen and offers a wonderful view of the village and the Diemtig valley.
The chalet was extended in 1993 by an extension. From 2012 – 2015 I carried out a complete renovation according to ecological criteria. The interior features an exclusive mix of classic and modern furniture. Well-preserved "wood remains" from the renovation have been integrated into a new function as far as possible. For example, the beds in the apartment in the attic are partly made of reused façade parts. Alpine cheese from our alpine farm used to be stored on the large folding tables on the south-facing balcony in the cheese cellar. Insulation with sheep's wool creates a pleasant indoor climate. Only local woods were used in the interior fittings, largely from the Diemtigtal.
The heating is done with renewable energy in the form of logs from my own forest in the Diemtigtal. The photovoltaic system produces almost 10,000 kWh per year and thus enough electricity for the three apartments in the chalet.
The apartments are ideal for holidays with your family or for business travellers with temporary work in the Thun/Bernese Oberland area and/or home office. Chalet Ried is the ideal starting point for various activities in the Diemtigtal Nature Park, in the Bernese Oberland and in the cities of Thun, Bern and Lucerne throughout the year, but also for relaxing on the sunny balconies or in front of the fireplace. The chalet is very easy to reach by public transport, a bus stop is 50m away. There is also a parking space for one car available at the chalet.
The village of Diemtigen is located at the entrance to the Diemtigtal Nature Park, which stretches across the valley of the same name and covers 130km2. The Diemtigtal is home to the largest alpine farming area in Switzerland. On 67 hectares there is a strong, well-developed alpine economy with a great biodiversity of plants and insects thanks to years of extensive cultivation.
In summer, the Diemtigtal offers many opportunities for hiking, biking and paragliding. In winter, it is a popular destination for skiing or snowboarding, but also for snowshoeing and ski touring. From Diemtigen, you can also explore the wider Bernese Oberland, e.g. the World Heritage Sites Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau as well as the cities of Thun, Bern and Lucerne.
