For food, all an easy walk from the apartment: Barracuda (7 min, beachfront seafood) and Odjo d'Agua (13 min, beachfront) for seafood and cachupa; La Trattoria (5 min) for Italian; Cafe Criolo (3 min) for the best local cachupa; and Tam Tam or Ocean Cafe (3-7 min) for casual coffee near the main square. Mercado Municipal (10 min) has local produce, Mercado de Artesanato (5 min) has handmade crafts, and the old wooden pier is a 5-minute walk — lovely at dawn when the fishing boats come in. Worth a day trip: Pedra de Lume salt crater (~25 km, ~30 min drive; float in mineral-rich water) and Shark Bay (~10 km, ~15 min drive; wade with harmless baby lemon sharks). Bring some cash, as smaller vendors don't always take cards.
