Built in 2022, Villa PHOS offers a modern and comfortable retreat in the heart of the picturesque village of Kathikas—perfect for relaxing, exploring the nearby Akamas region, and experiencing authentic Cypriot charm. Our parents, who were born and raised in Kathikas, live in the studio next door. Having spent many years working in the hospitality industry, they are now retired—but still love welcoming guests and sharing their local knowledge. They’re always nearby and happy to assist you with anything you might need or offer tips to help you make the most of your stay. This small and traditional village of Paphos is located at an altitude of 645 meters and has been inhabited since ancient times. It is ideal for agrotourism, due to its quiet environment. Kathikas is well known the last few years for its traditional taverns where someone can taste cypriot cuisine or enjoy a quick snack, a pizza, a buffet or a fancy cocktail. A small mini market in the center of the village can provide to visitors basic essentiels. Just 23 kilometres north of Paphos, you can reach the village through the villages Tsada and Stroumbi or by coastal drive through Pegeia. Maintaining its traditional charm, the village has residences dating back more than a century and serve as typical examples of folk architecture, while it also has many old and interesting churches. The small donkey sanctuary complements the authentic character of the village. Kathikas is one of the wine producing villages in Paphos region therefore two great wineries (Vasilikon and Sterna) are open to visitors for a wine tasting experience. Its name is said to come from the verb "to sit", due to the perception that the village when viewed from a distance, seems to “sit” on a flat location. Well known, also, for its traditional orthodox easter customs that all visitors can follow.
