Komora Lužná Cottage is a traditional Wallachian timber cottage dating back to 1780, set in a peaceful spot by the forest in the village of Lužná near Vsetín, within the Beskydy Protected Landscape Area. Originally a farm storehouse — its name, Komora, means "the chamber", and locals have never called it anything else — it now offers a cosy retreat for up to 5 guests. The cottage is always rented as a whole, just for you, with no reception and no other guests around. The heart of the ground floor is an open-plan living room with massive oak beams, where the dining area elegantly blends into a fully equipped kitchen corner (oven, gas stove, fridge, microwave). On chilly evenings, a crackling fire in the fireplace creates a warm, easy-going atmosphere. Steep miller's stairs lead up to the attic with two bedrooms — one with a double bed, and a children's room with three single beds. The bathroom with a shower is on the ground floor. And hidden beneath the living-room floor lies the original stone cellar from 1780: a vaulted ceiling, bare stone and natural chill, perfect for a glass of wine by candlelight. In the garden with its pergola you'll find a barbecue and a fire pit by the stream; a natural spring rises right next to the cottage, and the forest begins just a few steps from the door. Bed linen, towels, firewood for the fireplace and campfire, electricity and water are all included in the price, and you can park two cars at the cottage free of charge. Reliable Wi-Fi makes remote work easy. Pets are welcome by prior arrangement. The cottage is open year-round — in winter, the fireplace and electric heaters keep it pleasantly warm. From the cottage it is just a short trip to the Pulčín Rocks and Devil's Rocks, the Vařákovy Paseky mountain meadows, and the Wallachian Open Air Museum in Rožnov pod Radhoštěm. Hiking and cycling trails start right on the doorstep — and you can buy a genuine Wallachian sweet pie in a nearby village.
My name is Radim Filgas, and I look after Komora personally, together with my mum. My parents bought the cottage when it was half in ruins, and I helped them restore it from an early age — alongside a carpenter from the neighbouring village and a bricklayer who still knew the craft of the old vaulted cellar. Today I welcome guests myself and am always happy to recommend trips around Wallachia.
The area is perfect for nature lovers, hikers and cyclists — and in winter for skiing. In the summer months, we recommend visiting the Vařákovy Paseky mountain meadows, the Ploština memorial site, the Devil's Rocks, the Pulčín Rocks with their striking rock formations, or the Lačnov Rocks. Also well worth a trip are Rožnov pod Radhoštěm with its open-air museum, the Pustevny mountain resort, and the statue of the pagan god Radegast.
