Our holiday apartment Zum Freihof is located in the center of Schwarzenbach, nestled between Dollberg and Peterberg in the picturesque region of southern Hunsrück and the Nahe highlands in the "Saar-Hunsrück Nature Park." Thus, our town borders the southern foothills of the "Hunsrück-Hochwald National Park," which opened in 2015. Centrally located between the regionally significant tourist attractions, such as the summer toboggan run at Peterberg with its observatory in Braunshausen, the Nonnweiler dam with its planetary hiking trail, the Celtic ring wall in Otzenhausen with the Celtic park at the southern entrance of the National Park, and Bostalsee with its Center Parc. All of the mentioned destinations are within 8 km and can be reached on foot, by bike, or by car. The mountains and ridges of the municipality of Nonnweiler are among the highest in Saarland and are part of the 410 km long Saar-Hunsrück trail, which was voted Germany's most beautiful long-distance hiking trail again in 2017 after being chosen in 2009 and 2012. The bike path Sankt Wendeler Land runs through the three municipalities of Freisen, Nohfelden, and Nonnweiler and is practically at our doorstep. Many tourist attractions are located near the route and are worth a visit. With a length of 30 kilometers and a flat route, nothing stands in the way of a relaxing bike ride with high riding comfort.
