Our apartment is a wonderful blast from the past - it's taken us years to completely restore the traditional Eifel farmhouse to its original glory as it was built in the mid-1800s. Without upsetting the vintage look, we've invested in modern amenities, incl. central heating, a modern bathroom, comfy mattresses etc. The unit is located on the first floor of the farmhouse and comprises two bedrooms (with antique queen-size beds), a small bathroom and a common area with a kitchenette and a kitchen table with bench seating. In keeping with the vintage theme, we omit the obligatory TV, offering books, magazines and board games instead. A concession to modern life, free WiFi is available. Next door you'll find our restaurant, a small, well-known eatery serving creative country cuisine exclusively using local products. It's a foodie place with a great, affordable regional wine selection. Typically for the rural character of the place, the kitchen closes early. Fresh coffee, milk, fruit are provided; the bakery/café opposite makes the best bread in the area and serves great breakfast.

Recky is the sole proprietor, chef, sommelier and concierge of Freistaat Eifel, all rolled into one. Unless he is out visiting his food suppliers and farmers, he will be the one welcoming you to the apartment and handing over the keys. Recky will be more than happy to answer any questions you may have during your stay or equip you with more freshly ground coffee - you'll most likely find him in the kitchen.

The apartment is situated in the heart of Nettersheim, a bustling central village serving the area with a variety of shops, amenities and recreational facilities, including ice cream shop, cafés, bookshop, library, pubs, playgrounds etc. Nettersheim is fairly busy by day and quiet by night. It is a jumping-on and -off point for hikes along the Eifelsteig hiking trail. The nearby train station (5 min walk) is on the Cologne-Trier line and served hourly. The historic town of Bad Münstereifel can be reached by car in less than 15 minutes. Nature walks are literally just minutes away from the apartment.
