The popular and idyllic town of Waldkirchen is located on the Goldener Steig and is one of the easternmost towns in Bavaria as well as the most populous town in the district of Freyung-Grafenau. Waldkirchen is connected to the highway A3 via a feeder road between Aicha vorm Wald and Hutthurm and from Röhrnbach to the A3 highway via the B 12. The tri-city of Passau is not far away and can be reached via the B12 after approx. 24 kilometers.
