Surya Villa is run by Wije and Gurpreet, two people whose backgrounds in wellness, hospitality, and traditional medicine make this a genuinely special place to stay. Wije was born in Sri Lanka and has lived in Berlin for over 50 years. He opened Berlin's first Sri Lankan organic restaurant, Chandra Kumari in Kreuzberg, in 1992, followed by Suriya Kanthi in Prenzlauer Berg in 1996. After training in Ayurveda in Sri Lanka under Dr. Alwis and Prof. Dr. Kamal, he co-founded the original Surya Villa Wellness Centre in 2002 and has been a certified Ayurvedic massage trainer since 2008. This new centre on Husemannstraße is his latest project — built on over two decades of experience in Ayurveda and holistic hospitality. Gurpreet is an Ayurvedic doctor trained in classical Ayurveda in India. At Surya Villa, she offers personalised treatments — from therapeutic massages to full wellness programs — tailored to each guest's individual needs. She is warm, attentive, and happy to guide guests through the treatments on offer, whether they are experienced with Ayurveda or completely new to it. Together, they have created a space that combines authentic Ayurvedic practice with genuine care for every guest who walks through the door.
