I enjoy meeting my guests and ensuring that they enjoy their time here in the heart of the Apple Islands. With good food and warm hospitality I hope that both your heart and your mind feel nurtured at the end of your stay here at Højriisgaard on Femø. It is a delight that so many guests return here to Femø and to Højriisgaard.

Property info

Højriisgaard is one of the original historic farmhouses on Femø, built in the 1800s and carefully preserved to offer warm, personal island accommodation in Denmark. The guest rooms are located on both the ground and first floors of the main farmhouse, overlooking the peaceful courtyard and gardens. At the heart of Højriisgaard is a small artisan bakery and café, set in the adjoining farm building. Each morning, the courtyard fills with the scent of freshly baked sourdough bread from the traditional stone oven. All bread is baked on site, using time-honoured methods and natural fermentation. Susie's hospitality is rooted in slow food and local produce, with meals prepared by hand and with care. Guests are invited to enjoy thoughtfully planned breakfasts and simple seasonal dishes in a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere. With many years in the hospitality industry, the focus here is on personal service, quiet comfort, and authentic Femø experiences.

Femø is one of the Apple Islands, situated to the north of Lolland, a ferry ride of 55 minutes and you arrive at this beautiful romantic little island. Femø is a world apart more than any other area in Denmark, here there are hills and valleys and a lovely mild climate.
