Company info

Hi, we are Belén, David, and Carlos — a family who have called San Cristóbal home and have spent our lives in tourism and the arts. We know these islands deeply and love sharing them with people who are genuinely curious about this place. We are also artists and run our own gallery in Puerto Baquerizo Moreno, where we exhibit and sell work inspired by the Galápagos — its landscapes, wildlife, and the unique culture of island life. Art and nature are at the centre of everything we do, and that spirit is woven into the cabin and the land around it. For us, hosting is about more than providing a place to stay. We want guests to leave knowing San Cristóbal in a way that most visitors never get to — slowly, quietly, and from the highlands looking out at the ocean. We are here to help with anything you need, from trusted taxi contacts to tips on where to go and what to see. We hope you love it as much as we do.

Property info

Perched on a cliff in the highlands of San Cristóbal, Galápagos, this hand-built bamboo and wood cabin is surrounded by lush vegetation, fruit trees, and endemic birdlife. It is a place for those wanting to slow down, disconnect from everyday noise, and reconnect with nature in one of the world’s most extraordinary ecosystems. The cabin is fully off-grid. Electricity comes from solar panels, providing enough power for lighting, Starlink internet, a small fridge, and device charging. Water comes from collected rainwater fed by gravity from tanks, so pressure is gentle and use is mindful. Guests who embrace off-grid living often find it deeply restorative. The outdoor shower is built from natural rock and uses cold water — refreshing and beautiful in the middle of the highland forest. The bathroom is ensuite, and there is also an outdoor compost toilet on the property. The cabin sits on the edge of a cliff with open ocean views and spectacular sunsets. At night, the sky is clear and filled with stars. The cliff is also a nesting area for owls, often seen around the cabin after dark. Wildlife visitors include Galápagos mockingbirds, Darwin’s finches, and lava lizards — endemic species that wander freely through the property. Spiders and insects are also part of the natural environment, as the cabin is deeply embedded in the forest. Guests comfortable with wildlife will feel at home here. The land around the cabin has lemon, banana, mango, orange, and mandarin trees. There are also manzanillo trees, a native Galápagos species that is extremely toxic to humans. Its fruit resembles a small green apple but must never be eaten. The sap can burn skin and cause blisters, and even rainwater dripping from the tree may cause irritation. Burning the wood releases toxic smoke. Interestingly, Galápagos giant tortoises can eat the fruit without harm. Guests arrive to a freshly cleaned cabin with fresh bedding, a basic food package, and 20-litre drinking water jugs provided.

Neighborhood info

The cabin is located in the highlands of San Cristóbal, the easternmost and one of the oldest inhabited islands in the Galápagos archipelago. The highlands are cooler, greener, and quieter than the town below. The area has only a few neighbours living nearby, though from the cabin you cannot see any other houses — just ocean, sky, and forest. The nearest settlement is El Progreso, a small village approximately 40 minutes on foot, with a few local shops and a glimpse into everyday island life. The main town, Puerto Baquerizo Moreno, is around 15 minutes by taxi. It serves as the capital of the Galápagos province and has restaurants, cafés, a small market, dive shops, and a relaxed waterfront where sea lions lounge alongside locals. Taxis are the way to get around. We have a few reliable local drivers we can connect you with directly, or you can call one of the taxi companies on the island — we will share all contacts upon booking. San Cristóbal has some of the best natural experiences in Galápagos. La Lobería beach is home to a large sea lion colony. Cerro Brujo is one of the most stunning and uncrowded beaches in the archipelago. El Junco lagoon, in the highlands nearby, is the only freshwater lake in Galápagos and a remarkable birdwatching spot. Kicker Rock (León Dormido) is a world-renowned diving and snorkelling site just offshore.
