We are an American & Canadian couple who moved to Ecuador from New York. We have two daughters, a dog & a cat, and we fell in love with the easy-going, inclusive beach lifestyle that is Ayampe while traveling through Ecuador. We have worked in almost every facet of the hospitality industry between the two of us, and we absolutely love running our small, boutique surf hotel. We hope you come to meet us and spend some time enjoying our own little spot in paradise.

La Buena Vida Hotel is a relaxed and welcoming boutique hotel set along the stunning coast of Ecuador. With laid back surf vibes, set amidst lush tropical flowers and swaying palms, you can feel at home as you relax and unwind from the stresses of everyday life. All of our private rooms include WiFi, memory foam mattresses and air conditioning and private baths. Each offers a private terrace featuring your own hammock to relax and enjoy the warm ocean breeze. We offer delicious hearty breakfast with several options included with your stay. Restaurant with varied menu open all day. Our welcoming staff is happy to accommodate in any way needed, whether booking you a spectacular massage at the spa located across from the hotel (offering therapies like Reiki and Ayurveda), organizing surf lessons, yoga, whale watching, trips to the beautiful beaches at Los Frailes within the Machalilla National Park, Agua Blanca (one of the oldest archeological sites in South America, featuring a sulfur lagoon with healing mineral waters & mud baths), or even coordinating a surf package week for you and friends. La Buena Vida Hotel is awaiting your arrival!

The ocean, the river and the lagoon make this place very special. The tropical forest adjacent to the beach and the laid back surf vibes make Ayampe a tropical paradise. Here you can hike, surf, do some yoga, birdwatch, or just lay on the beach or in a hammock and catch up on some reading.
