Since 2007, authorities have threatened to revoke property rights due to its coastal location, but residents remain steadfast. In May 2026, an EU-funded coastal regeneration project restored the beach to its 1960 state, recovering years of history. Built by marshland farmers and part-time builders, it offers city dwellers a place to rest by the sea.
