Abertal is our personal project. We chose the name before developing the idea, because Abertal is an evocative word used in Cantabria to talk about open places, which are not closed. If anything defines the hosts, it is their love of nature and the mountains. Luismi is a mountain guide, with a wide experience and knowledge of Picos de Europa and the secrets of this small valley of Peñarrubia.
Navedo is a small village in the municipality of Peñarrubia, hanging from the Hermida Gorge "El esófago de la Hermida" as described by B. Pérez Galdós is "the thin line of asphalt that tears the Picos de Europa to bring the coast closer to Liébana" . Here you can get lost among centenary chestnut trees, beech and oak groves. Contemplate the ancient yews, the vestiges left by the ancient inhabitants in the form of menhirs, medieval towers ... and enjoy the adventure of the mountains with ferratas, routes and walks in nature, let yourself be seduced by the inhabitants of the mythological path while listening to the sound of the river Deva. But beyond the spectacular landscape of Peñarrubia, a special mention for its people, who have managed to adapt their way of life to the rigors of the mountain.
