Cal Guixater is an old Catalan house dating from 1888 where the former residents sold produce from their own land and made wine, vermuth, and olive oil. In the large barn next to the house, the molino, the plaster mill operated, producing plaster from stones from the hills. This also explains the name of the house: guix is ​​Catalan for plaster. The house has three rooms-en-suite on the first floor. The lounge with dining area/breakfast table, the fully equipped kitchen and the upstairs terrace, with views over vineyards and mountains, are on the ground floor. On the first floor there is a second lounge for shared use. Besides a private bathroom with shower and toilet, some units at Cal Guixater also have mountain views. All rooms at the accommodation have bed linen and towels. In the large walled garden is the second terrace, also with stunning views over vineyards and the hills of El Montmell.

Cal Guixater is located in La Joncosa de Montmell, a very quiet village in the hills of El Montmell. The village is 70 km from Barcelona's El Pratt airport and 40 km from Reus/Tarragona airport. From Cal Guixater you can take beautiful walks, climbing trips and bikerides. In the surroundings, there are monastery-and castle-ruins, churches and abandoned villages to explore. The village has a café, Cal la Barraca, where you can also eat. Open Wed to Sunday. Parking is available a 1-minute walk from the accommodation, at the Parking Municipal located right at the entrance to the village. The church “Sanctuari de Montserrat” by architect Josep Maria Jujol, a collaborator of Gaudí, is 10 km from Cal Guixater. The monasteries of Santes Creus and Montblanc, (Ruta del Cister) are 20 and 30 km from Cal Guixater respectively, the triumphal arch of Roda de Bera, Arc de Berà, is 23 km away. Travelling for work or study, the accommodation is 36 km from conference centre Palacio de Congresos in Tarragona and Rovira i Virgili University, also in Tarragona, is 35 km from the guest house.
