Casa Joan Moraira is located on one of the oldest streets in the historic centre of Moraira, an area that still preserves much of the town’s original Mediterranean character. The apartment has its own independent entrance directly from the street, with no steps, making access easier for bicycles, strollers or guests with reduced mobility. The space was designed by the owners with comfort, atmosphere and everyday living in mind rather than as a standard holiday rental. Special attention was given to lighting, materials and small details throughout the apartment. Neutral, high-quality lighting with excellent colour rendering creates a natural feeling during the day, while additional warm evening lighting creates a calmer atmosphere at night. Many elements were handmade or created using reclaimed wood, including furniture and decorative details. The apartment features photographs made by the host using traditional analogue darkroom techniques Beaches, restaurants, cafés, supermarkets, bakeries and the marina are all within a short walking distance, making it possible to enjoy Moraira without needing a car. Guests have access to a rooftop terrace shared only with the owner. For remote work stays, a desk and external monitor can be prepared on request, and the apartment is equipped with 1 Gbps fibre internet. An electronic lock allows access easier for groups or families, without needing to share physical keys. Casa Joan is pet friendly because we genuinely enjoy travelling with animals ourselves. Beach equipment can also be provided on request for a small additional fee. Please note free parking is available on the street as long as there are free places. We do not offer private parking.

I live in the same building with my partner and personally manage the apartment, so guests can enjoy flexible self check-in while still having a local host nearby if needed. We’re always happy to help with practical recommendations, organising airport transport, local trips, or occasionally arranging a relaxed evening with paella or wine on the rooftop terrace. I’m passionate about traditional analogue photography and darkroom printing. Some of the photographs displayed in the apartment were handmade by me using traditional darkroom techniques. For guests interested in analogue photography, traditional darkroom workshops may sometimes be arranged separately in advance. We created Casa Joan as a place that feels comfortable, authentic and lived-in rather than a standard tourist apartment. We enjoy details, natural materials, lighting and spaces that feel calm and welcoming both during short holidays and longer stays. We also love plants and greenery, which is why we are gradually transforming the rooftop terrace into a more green and relaxing Mediterranean space over time.

The neighbourhood is lively and closely connected to local traditions and Mediterranean daily life. Throughout the year there are local celebrations, shared dinners, meetings and community events. During summer, the area becomes especially active during Moros y Cristianos and the Fiestas Patronales in July. Some of the local “filàs” connected to Moros y Cristianos also organise gatherings, dinners and celebrations nearby, sometimes lasting into the evening. The loudest and busiest fiestas taking place directly on or near the street are usually Moros y Cristianos in mid-June and the Fiestas Patronales in July. Guests travelling during these periods may wish to check the official Teulada-Moraira town calendar in advance for exact dates and events. For this reason, guests should remember that this is a real residential neighbourhood where local people live, meet friends and family, celebrate together and maintain long-standing traditions. The area may sometimes be lively and occasionally noisy, especially during fiestas and summer evenings, so Casa Joan may be less suitable for guests expecting complete silence every day. At the same time, this atmosphere is also part of what makes staying in the historic centre of Moraira unique and authentic.
