For years, it has been our dream to live and work in Spain. We have been coming here on holiday almost every year for over 30 years and every time we left, we wondered what it would be like to stay permanently in this wonderful climate. Away from the often grey and cold Netherlands. We made the decision in 2021 and are making our dream come true. A B&B in an environment that fits perfectly with how we are ourselves. The region par excellence where you can be athletic, enjoy the best food or simply laze on the beach. We are extremely athletic, and we both enjoy running and cycling. For me, John, in particular, running is a great passion and I have run 20 marathons. And for me, Sonja, cycling is my biggest hobby. In 2013, this led to the establishment of Ladies First Cycling in Maastricht, a women's cycling club with over 80 members. And talking of Maastricht, it is the city where we were both born and raised and where we raised our daughter Quinty. We are connected to the city and it will always remain in our hearts. From now, change and our new challenge dominate everything, and we are looking forward to this adventure. John and Sonja

Welcome to Casa Mistela Located in the town of Xaló/Jalón in the beautiful Vall de Pop, also called the Jalón Valley. A paradise for cyclists and walkers. And with beautiful coastal towns on the Costa Blanca such as Jávea, Calpe, Benidorm and Villa Joiosa at a 20-minute drive, the sea is never far away. Casa Mistela is located in an authentic Spanish house, originally built in 1880. In recent years, we have completely transformed the house into a beautiful B&B with six suites, all with their own unique decor and style. We recently installed solar panels, which we use to generate our own electricity. And with our own well inside, we can rightly say that we operate sustainably. The house is named after the Mistela wine produced in the Jalón Valley. Casa Mistela is literally at the foot of the majestic Sierra de Bernia. Climb the Bernia by bike or via the hiking trails. The ultimate reward awaits you at the top with breathtaking views and at the highest point you can see Ibiza. We, John and Sonja Hermans, wish you a warm welcome.
