El Refugio is a beautifully restored village house, containing 3 tourist apartments, situated in a narrow lane full of flowers. The apartments, all independent and with key access, are ideally situated within easy access of the motorway to Castellon and Valencia, at 40km and 30km respectively. Valencia airport is only 30minutes away and the route to the nearest beach couldn't be easier, at 20km. The village is quiet but welcoming, with several restaurants, a supermarket, bakery and butchers. The village is surrounded by orange groves and has a choice of walking and cycling routes for all ages. Summer is always a good time to visit but come in May/ June and you will be captivated by the smell of azahar, the scent of oranges. El Refugio is the perfect base to explore beach, city and mountain life in Spain.
We are an English couple living in Spain for over 20 years, and we have owned our rural house since 2005. We are passionate about its old-world charm and always strive to preserve the beauty of the house. Over time, we have lovingly restored each floor, and now we have a total of three apartments. The villagers in our town are incredibly friendly, and many visitors have told us that even the food tastes better at El Refugio! The name of our house comes from the refuge that used to be located beneath it, right next to the priest's house, from where one supposedly could escape to the calvary. Our neighbours have shared stories of their time hiding there and assure me that there is no treasure! Our house exudes a tranquil atmosphere and emanates an inexplicable sense of peace. You will be captivated by the rustic charm of our lovingly restored apartments and the warm hospitality of our village community. Book your stay now and immerse yourself in the beauty of our Spanish countryside retreat.
