Playa Honda offers a semi-urban beach with fine golden sand and a wide marine promenade that extends along the shores of the Mar Menor sea. This body of water is much smaller and more saline than the Mediterranean Sea, which it joins at a further point in La Manga. The Mar Menor, with its 180 km surface area, constitutes the largest salt water lagoon in Europe. The Mar Menor is perfect for a peaceful dip / swim and its tranquil, shallow and calm waters are especially ideal for children. So many interesting places to visit nearby: The nearby La Manga del Mar Menor is a narrow stretch of sand that is 22 km long and between 100 and 800 m wide. “La Manga” means “sleeve” and is well known for its warmer and calmer Mediterranean waters. Cabo de Palos, a charming fishing village on the Mediterranean Sea, is just a few minutes away.
