Villaverde is located in the north of Fuerteventura, the wildest and most desert-like island of the Canary Islands. To the south of the village lies a small hill called La Montañeta, which separates Villaverde from La Oliva and is home to two beautiful traditional windmills. Villaverde is also home to the oldest cave in the entire Canary archipelago, La Cueva del Llano, featuring a 648-meter-long volcanic lava tube.
