The owners Riitta and Lauri Pitkänen originally met in Kartano Kievari in a social dancing event. Years later, in 2001, the couple also got married here. It seems like their faith was sealed into this place. As Kartano Kievari came up for sale in 2010, they made their dreams come true and purchased the business. Their passion is within the Finnish countryside and the cultural heritage. Riitta and Lauri Pitkänen are dance teachers by their second profession, specialized in social dancing. They teach waltz, tango, cha cha and other dance varieties across the county and are also founding members of the second largest social dancing club in Finland. Lauri is also an active fisherman and is known of his handmade wobblers.

Kartano Kievari operates on a historic Suojoki farm in the village of Hietama in central Finland. The area has been an oasis of well-being since the Stone Age, as it has been proven to be inhabited by several families 10,000 years ago. Today the 130-year-old stone barn serves as the main building, where our events and private functions take place. The restaurant & bar will serve during events, otherwise our hotel guests will check in independently. With us you will stay in a homely setting and off the beaten track. Our location between the south and the north also serves as a great stopover for independent travelers. Most of our hotel rooms are located in the Old Brick Building. All the rooms in the building have air conditioning, there is also a sauna customers can heat at their own leisure and a kitchen corner for cooking. The newest structure in the courtyard is the Summer Theater, with hotel rooms cleverly built underneath the stand. All rooms at the Theater building have a private entrance and a communal terrace area in front of the rooms. All our rooms and water are heated with geothermal heat and solar power.

Kartano Kievari is located in Hietama village, in the township of Äänekoski. The landscape is very rustic and the views cut across surrounding farmlands. Suojoki stream runs in the back of the garden village right behind Kartano Kievari. The neighbourhood feels like the heart of Finland. Lush, green, rural and at times incomplete, because there are always works to be finished.
