To preserve its peaceful atmosphere, Mattila House is an alcohol- and drug-free environment, creating a safe and welcoming setting for all guests—especially those who appreciate a calm and unhurried way of life. Guests are served a traditional Finnish breakfast, tailored upon arrival to suit individual preferences. Breakfast is prepared with fresh, locally sourced ingredients whenever possible, and enjoyed at a relaxed pace in the cozy, atmospheric “Pirtti.” Many guests return to Mattila time and again, often booking directly with the house.

Mattilan talo is located in Impiö, a small rural village surrounded by the beautiful nature of Southern Lapland. Lakes, hiking trails, and berry forests are all close by. In summer, reindeer may wander near the yard, and in winter, the northern lights can often be admired simply by stepping outside. The area is ideal for spending time in nature—hiking, foraging, fishing, or hunting—as well as for quiet reflection and relaxation. The peaceful surroundings offer space for thoughts and creativity. Local life can be experienced in a simple and genuine way. This is not a mass tourism destination, but a place where people live—and where guests are warmly invited to slow down and feel at home.
