Why MeriKoivula and how did it get started? The current owner has enjoyed vacationing and fishing in various parts of Finland for 30 years. Mostly with with his family and friends, sometimes with business partners. In recent years, he began to come across the fact that four families didn’t seem to fit right into anything. Here and there were a couple of adjoining cottages built in the 70s, but half of the group had to spend the night somewhere far away, up to 10-20 km from others. No ramp for launching boats was found at several locations. Boat docks, boat rentals, tables for cleaning fish were in most places either in poor condition or completely missing. It all left the feeling that this form of vacation has not received enough attention. So originally it was planned to build something just for the own family and friends, but then he saw Merikoivula and the story begun, in June 2019. During the 2020, 7 cozy and luxurious Villas were completed and original Villa Holm 1, had a total makeover. Cottage Holm 2 and 6 Summer cottages or campsites had some facelift as well. Merikoivula is a paradise for anglers. From the guest marina, there is easy access to the waters, and rental boats include both larger Tuna 422C boats and smaller Kasse 340 models. Your catch can be prepared at the fish-cleaning tables, and the evening can be crowned with delicacies cooked on Kamado Joe grills or in smoking ovens. Meetings, celebrations and group events are also easily arranged in idyllic surroundings. The meeting and banquet space accommodates 60 people, and there are two saunas: a spacious 15-person sauna and the seaside six-person sauna at cottage Holm. In addition, the loft of the storage building features an impressive and stylish barn venue for up to 100 people. The facilities are ideal for team days, staff wellbeing days or Christmas parties. There’s plenty to do in your free time. Two high-quality tennis courts, football and volleyball fields, children’s play areas and a fitness field ensure an active holiday. Guests can use all necessary sports equipment free of charge. The villas are available year-round, and meeting and cabin facilities complement the summer season offerings.
