Savutaival was built in 2012 and it stands on a beautiful 1,5 hectare plot that has a 150 meters shoreline to Tornioriver This massivelog-house has a geothermal heating system with floor heating and uses 100% co2 free electricity. It is an Eco-house that was built with over 90% of recyclable materials. It has double glassed windows and soapstone heat-storing gourmet (oven) fireplace and a small wood burning sauna. Savutaival has a fully equipped kitchen, wifi-connection and books (finnish) and games. Right on the bank of Tornioriver there is "Laavu" etc. a lean-to fireplace. Public taxishuttle goes to Pello center every morning on tuesdays and thursdays where you have 2,5 hours time to do your shopping. Roundtrip is 9 euros. A Taxi to the train station or Pello center is about 30-40 euros one way.
