Our small-scale B&B is situated in a peaceful, green setting and can accommodate up to 14 guests. This is not a holiday rental. We do not accept groups. Therefore, parties and bringing personal food and drinks are not permitted. Many holiday rentals are available nearby for this purpose. Three evenings a week, we organize a cozy table d'hôtes where guests enjoy a homemade three-course meal with wine. The former half-timbered hunting lodge, dating from 1840, has been transformed and renovated in the authentic Champagne style. The ecologically certified materials are all locally sourced, and special attention has been paid to energy and water conservation. Situated in the heart of the Étangs du Der bird sanctuary, you can explore this beautiful region, which has remained authentic since the High Middle Ages, on foot or by bike and search for the 300 protected bird, mammal, and flower species that live there.

Our Background & Philosophy Hospitality is deeply ingrained in our culture. After our first French adventure in the Vendée, where we ran a campsite, we consciously chose to take a new step. In 2026, we enthusiastically embarked on our second French adventure at Domaine du Der. Our experience has taught us what truly matters: personal attention, genuine interest in our guests, and creating a place where people immediately feel welcome. Not a standard concept, but a stay with soul. Our philosophy is simple yet sincere: we want our guests to have a wonderful holiday experience with us. A place where memories are made, where you can relax, and where you look back on it with a smile. Unique overnight stays with attention We believe that a wonderful holiday is all about the details. It's about a warm welcome, a comfortable bed, a peaceful morning, and the freedom to plan your day as you wish. Our accommodations are carefully furnished and blend seamlessly with the natural surroundings. Comfort and authenticity go hand in hand. In the morning, you can enjoy a delicious breakfast, lovingly prepared and made with local ingredients whenever possible. Afterward, you set your own pace: actively explore the surroundings or relax under a tree, surrounded by the rustling of the leaves.

A paradise for birdwatchers The ponds and marshes surrounding Lac du Der are among the most important birdwatching areas in France. The area is the largest Ramsar site on the French mainland and is known as a resting and breeding ground for countless bird species. For birdwatchers, there are four specially equipped birdwatching hides, ideal for peacefully observing cranes, herons, geese, and many other species – especially during the spring and autumn migration periods. Walking in peace and quiet Hikers will find plenty to enjoy here. A 7.5 km signposted trail leads past ponds, reed beds, and forest edges. The tranquility, the vastness, and the ever-changing light make every walk unique. To protect this special natural environment, access is regulated: no motorized traffic, no dogs, no noise, and no picking of plants. This ensures the area remains an oasis of tranquility for both people and animals. Walking from Domaine du Der From Domaine du Der, you can walk straight into nature. Forests, ponds, and reed beds provide varied routes and ever-changing views. The 7.5 km long hiking trail through the Outines and Arrigny nature reserves is highly recommended, where tranquility and nature take center stage. We are happy to share our favorite hiking trails and tips with our guests. Cycling around Lac du Der Domaine du Der is also a perfect base for cyclists. The largely car-free cycle path of approximately 38 km around Lac du Der passes beaches, forests, and small harbors. A relaxing way to explore the area, with plenty of opportunities for breaks along the way. Fishing in peace and quiet Lac du Der offers plenty of opportunities for carp and anglers. After a day at the water, it's wonderful to come home to Domaine du Der, where tranquility and comfort come together. In the evening, guests can join our table d'hôtes where local products and French dishes are served.
