Away from mass tourism, in a quiet and out of sight location, Girolles les Forges is a property that feels like a family home. The rooms are spacious, tastefully decorated and we hope you will feel comfortable. A large garden, tall trees, a terrace if you want to laze around at home or go for a visit to discover the area. The choice is yours! Are you in the mood for a gastronomic dinner? Christian is a chef by trade: he will delight your taste buds with his home-made dishes. His cooking is creative, the products are fresh, seasonal, the organic goat cheese from the producer of Girolles... everything is set up to spend a great moment at the table with a good meal with wines carefully chosen from the wine growers of the region. Dinners will be served around our table d'hôtes (on reservation only) for more conviviality. For a romantic stay, with friends or family, we will be delighted to share our house with you.
It's been 21 years now since we left the hustle and bustle of the big cities to move on the countryside to open our guesthouse and we don't regret it. In our little village, we have been able to welcome so many different people (some of them coming from the other side of the world: we are still amazed but super proud of it!) An activity rich in encounters and each time, a new story. We invite you to share this story with us. There are 3 others with whom you can share your story: Idylle and O'Malley, our 2 adorable labradors and our cat "Prince". All 3 are very sociable, they love to have attention and are part of the adventure. Here you go, otherwise, simply : Welcome to you!
The region is very rich in visits... We are 16 km from Vézelay, 7 km from Avallon. Many castles nearby (Bazoches, Chastellux, Ancy le Franc...), Abbeys (Abbaye de la Pierre qui Vire, Abbaye de Fontenay...), the caves of Arcy sur Cure, the lakes of the Morvan Park where you can swim in the summer. And don't forget: wine! Vézelay, Chablis, Irancy, Chitry, Coulanges la Vineuse. Not far from us are two sites that are very popular with children (but also with adults!): Guédelon Castle and the Alesia Museopark
