It's here, in my home village, on the square I knew as a child, brimming with life and where too many shutters had gradually closed, that Casa Maestracci, named after the family who once lived there, is about to be revived as a travel home, welcoming guests from all over the world. Situated in the square of the small Balagne village of Zilia, at the foot of Montegrosso and 20 minutes from the sandy beaches of Calvi, the house is ideally located between the sea and the mountains. It has been renovated with care and respect for its identity, so that the modern comforts provided do not detract from its historic charm. Four large, tastefully decorated rooms, two overlooking the village and two the valley, are available for overnight stays, in the style of a guest house. Each room has its own private bathroom and toilet. Each is equipped with a Queen Size bed and air conditioning. Breakfast is a special moment, a chance to wake up to regional specialities and local produce. It's served on the terrace overlooking the valley, or in the dining room, two relaxing spaces shared by our guests as they plan their day. The small Balagne village of Zilia is about a 20-minute drive from the nearest airport. The port of Ile Rousse is around 40 minutes away by car. Balagne is a very popular region for tourists visiting Corsica, for the beauty of its sites between sea and mountains and its typical villages to visit, provided you have a vehicle on site (no public transport)! It takes about 20 minutes to reach Calvi and its sandy beaches.
