Numerous hiking, riding and bicycle trails are right from the front door of the château and you can enjoy anything from an easy stroll to a more demanding hike on one of the nature trails. The neighbouring riding school can take you on a lovely woodland horse ride with brilliant horses who are good with beginners and more experienced. For golfers there is an excellent 9 hole golf course within 10 minutes drive and an 18 hole golf course less than half an hour away. Bergerac, 18 km away, sits on the banks of the Dordogne river in the heart of the wine producing area. It is a busy town with good shopping, cafés and restaurants and a large market on Saturday and Wednesday mornings. The area has been described the capital of world prehistory, and culture vultures are spoilt for choice with caves, museums, We are very attached to the area, as we love the Bastide towns, the numerous medieval villages, caves and castles. Monpazier is one of the most beautiful bastide towns in the Perigord region.We If you are with children, head for the castle of Bridoire ; over a hundred replicas of indoor and outdoor historical games can be discovered there.
