Chez Caro is an Auvergnat farmhouse down a quiet country lane, in the hamlet of Lessal, near to the village of Mourjou which is about 4 kms away. The old farm house is built of schist stone and stands across the lawn from the owners' barn. There is a large garden with a barbeque area and a swimming pool, and plenty of spaces to relax and enjoy the views, the sunsets and the night sky. There is no light pollution here. The house is spacious, attractively decorated and generously supplied with everything needed for a relaxing holiday,

We are a retired English couple: we love nature and enjoy all the wildlife in the area. We also like books and music and art and we support these activities locally.

The immediate surroundings are attractive cottages, old farm buildings, fields where local farmers graze their cattle. rivers where one can canoe and picnic, and shady woods. There are several marked walks nearby but the whole area is suitable for walking and discovering nature. It is close to Mourjou which has an Auberge (restaurant) and the Chestnut Museum. This is a fun place for children to explore as well as adults, and there are often activities there during the holidays. 45 minutes away the city of Aurillac offers shops and links via train or air to Paris. We are one hour from the Cantal mountains with beautiful walks, summer activities and winter skiing. There are local markets every week in nearby towns and many fêtes throughout the year, based on seasonal produce or specialities such as cherries, basket weaving, walnuts, and in the case of Mourjou, locally-grown chestnuts. There is always lots of food, music, and dancing. Life in this part of the Cantal is rural and still quaintly old-fashioned.
