Cottage les forières is a typical farmhouse for Normandy. Known as longère these homes are narrow and long with a very steep roof adapted for thatch. I renovated entirely for relaxation. There is an open fireplace and plenty of wood. I finish sana the home in 2013 using natural materials like earthen walls, hardwoods, clay tiles and thatch. My goal was to respect the original spirit of the house with a few modern comforts. This was my weekend holiday home to get away from the busy life and hustle of the city. There is a calming atmosphere in the house with warm low lighting and natural materials. There is an open fireplace with plenty of wood and a finish sana. I love to cook and have a fully equipped kitchen with a cast iron electric stove from England. The central island is great for cooking as a group. The comment I get from most guess is that the house is cozy with a fairytale atmosphere.

I grew up in western Canada and moved to France after university in 2002. I acquired Cottage les forières in 2013 as a holiday home but very quickly I didn’t want go back to the city. In 2019 I made the leap and moved here full time to become a roof thatcher. This is now my full-time profession. In parallel I rent the house out to guests.

The village is very quiet with no through traffic. There are nearby forests to walk in and we are a 25 minute drive from the coast. There are great farmer markets every day of the week. The villages along the coast are very picturesque and there are many public gardens to visit.
