Fonsegre is a working farm where we grow wheat, maize, sunflowers and colza. The house is surrounded by our land so we are all about peace and quiet and space! However our little secret is that we are just down the road from the famous Circuit de Magny Cours where throughout the year you can get a fix for fast cars and motorbikes!Loads of atmosphere and perfect for car and bike enthusiasts of all ages and styles. If however you prefer a slower mode of travel then we are also close to the Velo 6 cycle route along the canals of the Loire and the route de Compostella. The chambres d'hotes is located in a big converted old stone cow shed. There is lots of space , a sunny terrace and a good size swimming pool. There are plenty of places for you to relax and find a quiet corner to enjoy the calm and quiet. It is a lovely rural part of Burgundy. We like to say we are in the middle of nowhere but on the way to everywhere!!
We are an odd couple! Isabel comes from the UK and led a varied and cosmopolitan life in London before falling for the charms of the peaceful French countryside and David who is a French farmer! We adore all our customers who come to this region for many different reasons and our aim is for people to feel very much 'at home'. A chance to really relax, enjoy the pool, perhaps some good food on the terrace, the local attractions and a chance to explore the region and its charms. We offer simple but comfortable accommodation and previous guests have enjoyed the peaceful nights, the pure air and the feeling of ease that we strive to offer. We offer home cooked meals and will use either local produce of produce from our own small vegetable patch. isabel likes to cook a variety of foods that reflect her love of travel and discovering good things the world over!
Racing racing and more racing! The Circuit de Magny Cours is our main local attraction and at just 5kms from the house we are in a perfect location for our guests to make the most of a visit to the track. We have a huge secure courtyard so will happily accommodate trailers and cars or bikes in total security. The nearby town of Nevers boasts the rather beautiful Saint Bernadette who you can visit and see her in all her peaceful glory. There are pretty villages and towns to explore, the beautiful parc du Morvan to visit. Fonsegre itself is surrounded by gently rolling farmland and forests. It is peaceful, calm and unhurried.
