We want to let you know that VILLENEUVE LA COMTESSE has it's own railway station. Apparently the booking portal you are using, insist on showing that our nearest railway station is Niort - this is incorrect - but they insist they can't change it!. Our gite is fully equipped for your stay, but if you find that you need something else, please ask and we will do our best to help you. The gite is for 2 people but has plenty of cutler, bedlinen and towels. We provide some starter items, such as coffee, tea, toiletries and toilet paper. However, we do not restock during your stay - this is a self catering gite and you must do your own shopping. Are you staying with us because you are working? You will find space on your dining table for a laptop and we have wifi fibre with speeds of 510.3 Mbps download and 494.2 Mbps upload. Don't unplug the internet booster, or the skybox or smart box please. If you need any additional sockets, they can be found in the bedroom and living room. We can give you a multi plug bar if necessary. We have received comments about the wifi on our reviews, only to find later that the equipment was tampered with. As we have mentioned, there is a convenience store just 10 minutes walk from our gite, but also we have visiting food vans each week - pizza and burgers! Please note that we are a small town - the shop is not open on Sunday evening, so please bring what you need. The same shop sells, bread, cake, milk etc. If you need eggs let me know as our neighbour sells them. Please don't mark us badly on the review because we don't have the shops you expect.

In the UK we hosted overseas students which we enjoyed a great deal, as we learned about the experiences and hopes for the future. When we moved to France we began hosting guests in our gite and occasionally hosted French students who were hoping to improve their spoken language. I am always very busy, whether in the garden, or finding new properties for my husband to sell. Which leads me nicely to : my husband is an estate agent! So our gite would be an ideal place for you to stay, as he has great knowledge of the Charente Maritime and Deux Sevres. We will be able to advise you of the process needed to purchase ( or sell a house). I found it easy to retire from the 9-5, but my husband needed something more, hence he started work again. He has sold around 60 houses in the past 5 years.

Please see our FB Profile for further information about places to visit. Villeneuve la Comtesse is living breathing town, no tourists, so the town is fully occupied all year round. It is small, but has what you need for day to day living. Fancy a new hairdo to start your vacation? We have a hairdresser, who is highly recommended. Also we have beauty salon, pharmacy, garage and Co-op. We are proud to have a chateau too and a lovely church. Going further afield, you can visit Marais du Poitevin for river walks and boat hire or Zoodysee animal park in Chizé. St Jean d'angely has a twice weekly indoor and outdoor market or visit the beautiful Les Fouras beach and town 17450.
