La Baudonniere is a 16th-century bourgeoise manor situated in a rural setting outside the charming village of Monsireigne. The property dates back to 1620 and was restored in 1716 by the family Loyau. It contains all its original features from the stone stairway to the huge wooden beams and floors. Breakfast is served in the lounge with its beautiful old oak-mantled fireplace. We offer a traditional French breakfast: croissant, pain au chocolat, yogurt, and wonderful local bread, such as the famous Brioche, a sweetened bread particular to the Vendée region. The courtyard is surrounded by old stone buildings and the spacious gardens offer peace and tranquility with panoramic views, wildlife, and amazing sunsets.

There are two wonderful restaurants nearby. La Morlière in Sigournais overlooks Lac Rochereau and offers breathtaking scenery, and the other "Casse-Croute Vendéen", family orientated with charm and character located in Pouzauges our nearest town which has many restaurants if you prefer a tasty light dinner at reasonable prices. The Marais in the south of the Vendée is a large area of wetlands, home to an amazing variety of flora and fauna. Boat trips can be taken from Coulon and Maillezais. There are many châteaux in the region, but the two most important are the Château de la Guignardiere, a fine example of Renaissance architecture, and Château Tiffauges, built between the twelfth and sixteenth centuries and home to the infamous Bluebeard. The 127-hectare lake complex at Rochereau near Chantonnay and just 7 minutes drive from La Baudonniere, has a 2 kilometer stretch for carp fishing at night.
