Welcome to the Land of Lapalisse – the gateway to the Allier ! Our gîte is located in the charming village of Andelaroche, in the north of the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region, at the crossroads of the Auvergne and the Roannais. It is where the cultures of the south (langue d’oc) and the north (langue d’oïl) meet. Andelaroche is a picturesque and peaceful village with a rich history dating back to ancient times. The name originates from Audin de Gléné, lord of the estate in the 13th century. The village is nestled in a lush green valley surrounded by forests, rolling hills, and clear streams such as the Andan and the Balavan. The area is part of the Land of Lapalisse, known for its natural beauty and its strategic location at the junction of major routes, including the famous RN7. The cities of Vichy and Roanne are just 30 minutes away, and Lyon or Clermont-Ferrand can be reached in 1.5 hours. Lapalisse itself is a historic town featuring the impressive Château de La Palice and is known for its “lapalissades” – humorous statements that are both true and obvious.
