This place reflects the history and former power of one of France’s most illustrious families, the Polignacs. As soon as you set down your bags in one of La Gourmantine’s rooms—where a harmonious mix of contemporary style and carefully restored traditional features, like massive wooden beams, awaits—you’ll want to explore the keep, ramparts, walkways overlooking the Puy basin, as well as the manor houses and village church.
